Privacy Policy

Last updated: 30 August 2026

1. Overview

This Privacy Policy explains how Lyrns (“Lyrns”, “we”, “us”) collects, uses, shares, and protects personal information when you use our website and services (the “Services”), including instructor booking, scheduling, messaging, payments, and calendar syncing features.

If you do not agree with this policy, please do not use the Services.

2. Information We Collect

  • Account information: name, email address, phone number, and login credentials or identity provider identifiers.
  • Profile and business information (instructors): bio, teaching areas, vehicle details, prices, availability, and related settings.
  • Booking and scheduling data: lesson dates/times, duration, locations, notes, cancellations, and related metadata.
  • Communications: messages and support requests you send through the platform.
  • Payment data: payment status, invoices/receipts, and transaction identifiers. Card details are handled by our payment processor and are not stored directly by Lyrns.
  • Device and usage data: IP address, browser/device information, pages viewed, and diagnostic logs (to operate, secure, and improve the Services).

3. Calendar Sync Data (Google/Microsoft)

If you connect a calendar account, we request permission to read and write calendar events so that: (a) Lyrns bookings can be written to your calendar, and (b) events on your calendar can block availability and may reschedule/cancel matching bookings.

  • What we store: connection metadata (provider, email), access/refresh tokens (server-side), mappings between bookings and provider event IDs, subscription/webhook details, and “busy block” time ranges.
  • What we do not store by default: full copies of your calendar. We pull event data as needed to identify busy periods and detect changes to Lyrns-created events.
  • Revoking access: you can disconnect in Lyrns settings and/or revoke access in your Google/Microsoft account security settings.

Google API Services (Limited Use). Lyrns' use and transfer to any other app of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. In practice this means Google Calendar data is used only to provide the calendar syncing features described above; it is never used for advertising, never sold, and never transferred to third parties except as needed to operate those features (for example our hosting and database providers), to comply with the law, or with your explicit consent. No person at Lyrns reads your calendar data unless you ask us to for support, it is required for security or legal reasons, or the data has been aggregated and anonymised.

4. How We Use Information

  • Provide and operate the Services (accounts, scheduling, payments, notifications).
  • Prevent fraud, abuse, and security incidents.
  • Customer support and service communications.
  • Improve and develop features (including reliability and performance).
  • Comply with legal obligations and enforce our terms.

5. How We Share Information

We share personal information only as needed to provide the Services, including with:

  • Service providers: hosting, database, analytics, email/SMS, payments, maps/geocoding, and customer support tools.
  • Calendar providers: Google and Microsoft when you connect calendar syncing.
  • Legal/safety: if required by law or to protect rights, safety, and integrity of Lyrns and users.
  • Business transfers: in connection with a merger, acquisition, or asset sale.

6. Data Retention

We retain information as long as needed to provide the Services, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. If you close your account, we will delete or anonymize information where feasible, subject to legal and operational requirements.

7. Security

We use administrative, technical, and organizational measures designed to protect personal information. No system is 100% secure; please use strong passwords and keep your account credentials safe.

8. Your Choices and Rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or restrict processing of your personal information, and to object to certain processing. You can also disconnect calendar syncing at any time.
